PRACTICAL GUIDE

Calculate bill percentages and review a spoken calculation

Use explicit formulas for bills and percentage changes. Review every number in a spoken calculation before calculating.

Take it step by step

  1. Type the expression or open the private voice calculator. Use brackets to show the intended grouping.
  2. For an increase, multiply by (1 + rate%). For a discount, multiply by (1 - rate%).
  3. With voice input, explicitly download the local model, record or choose audio, then review the transcript and converted expression.
  4. Choose Calculate after checking the numbers, then copy the result. Session history disappears when you leave.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLE

A situation to try.

A supplied bill of INR 1,200 with an 18% increase shared three ways is 1200 * (1 + 18%) / 3 = 472. This is supplied-rate arithmetic, not advice about applicable taxes.

Use the tool’s synthetic example first where available. The example here explains a decision; it is not a reported benchmark result.

Before you call it done.

  • Percent divides by 100: 200 + 10% = 200.1. Use 200 * (1 + 10%) for 220.
  • Check decimal points and operators recognised from speech.
  • Powers bind before unary signs: -2^2 = -4; use (-2)^2 for 4.
  • Use the expense splitter for bounded minor-unit reconciliation rather than relying on floating-point arithmetic.

Know the limits.

Arithmetic, brackets and powers only. English spoken vocabulary is limited; compound number words may need editing to digits. Voice needs a local model pack and compatible audio decoding. Typed arithmetic works without a model.

This tool’s current boundary: Approximate floating-point arithmetic. Percent divides by 100; powers bind before unary signs. Not a financial or symbolic calculator.

Evidence and scope

Technical source guidance and task-specific output checks. These do not establish that every file, browser or device passes.

Use the checks above on your own exported result. A source explains the format or mechanism; it is not proof that this export preserved every feature.
